Privacy

Effective date: 2 November 2026.

The Rupee Fund is a FOSS United community initiative, run by volunteers. The community team manages the mailing list. We adopt the privacy standards in the FOSS United privacy policy, dated 7 February 2024, with the local rules below. These local rules define our data use and take precedence where the source differs. We do not adopt the source’s wider uses for marketing, profiling, event tickets, or ownership transfers. Foundation roles named in the source do not become roles in The Rupee Fund through adoption. Later changes to the source do not change this policy automatically.

What we collect

  • Your name.
  • Your email address.
  • The time of your consent, signup, and latest update.
  • The page that you used to join.
  • The amount each month that you say you can give.
  • The number of months that you say you can give, if you answer.
  • The question that you ask the team, if you ask one.
  • Whether you tick the box for monthly updates.
  • The roles that you tick, if you tick any: user or consumer; developer, creator or maintainer; professional; student.
  • The projects that you want to fund, if you tick any: new, growing or well-established.

We keep this data to send you emails: a welcome email that asks you to confirm, one email when the fund opens, and monthly updates if you tick the box. We also use it to plan the fund. Your answers about money bind you to nothing. We take no payment. We hold no payment details. Access to your answers is limited to the people who administer the list and the services that process it.

Storage and retention

Cloudflare hosts this site and stores the list. When the site sends you an email, Cloudflare sends it. The team can export the list to send the email when the fund opens and the monthly updates. Before we send the first of these, we will name here the service that sends them, with a new effective date. We keep entries to plan the fund and to send these emails. We have not set a fixed deletion date. If you leave the mailing list, we keep your entry, as described below.

Your IP address

We read your IP address when you send the form. We use it to prevent abuse. When your browser runs JavaScript, we also send it to Cloudflare with the bot check below. We do not store it in your list entry. Cloudflare also processes connection data to provide hosting and abuse protection.

Bot protection

When your browser runs JavaScript, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell a person apart from a bot. Cloudflare states what Turnstile collects in the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts the visits to each page and measures how fast the pages load. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser, and does not identify you.

Profile photos

The People page loads profile photos from GitHub. GitHub receives your IP address when your browser requests these photos.

Email to the team

Zoho Mail receives each email that you send to hello@rupeefund.org, and keeps it with our replies. This includes a request to join the list by email, when the form cannot run in your browser, and a request to leave the list.

How to leave the list

Send an email to hello@rupeefund.org. We take you off the list. We keep your entry, and we mark it as removed, so that a later signup cannot add you again. Ask at any time.
